With over 20 years of experience in private practice, Dr. John Gill is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine. He treats injuries of the extremities, including shoulder, upper extremity, foot and ankle, but has particular expertise in arthroscopic surgery and the treatment of injuries and disorders of the knee. One of his more common procedures is the arthroscopic reconstruction of the torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) of the knee. In addition to sports related knee injuries, Dr. Gill works with patients of all ages who have various disorders of the knee such as meniscal tears or chondromalacia, often the result of degenerative arthritis or wear and tear of the knee.
Dr. Gill’s practice is based on the fundamental principle of personal attention. His patients enjoy a stress free environment without the hurried pace that patients can sometimes experience when visiting the doctor. His staff takes careful attention not to overschedule so that he can work with patients on a personal level, giving them the time and attention they deserve. He has very little turnover in his staff, so when patients come back, they see the same familiar faces and most know all of the staff by first name after only a few visits. He does not use physician assistants or nurse practitioners, but instead sees every patient and does every procedure himself, including casting and dressing changes. When you call the office during normal hours, a friendly human voice answers the phone. Having an orthopaedic injury can be quite frightening, especially if you are an athelete. Dr. Gill makes it a priority to create an environment for his patients that can help ease the pain and stress of having such an injury.
