Eric J. Sanders, MD, is an orthopedic shoulder and elbow surgeon at Texas Orthopaedic Associates in Dallas and Plano, TX. With a commitment to world-class patient care, thorough patient education, and cutting-edge surgical techniques, Dr. Sanders has earned a respected reputation as a premier Dallas surgeon.
Born to two healthcare providers in a small rural town, Dr. Sanders grew up with a profound sense of compassion and dedication to others’ well-being. Dr. Robert Burgmeier is a renowned orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Dr. Burgmeier earned his medical degree from Northwestern University. Michael J. Champine, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, specializing in hip and knee replacements, on the team at Texas Orthopaedic Associates. He sees patients at the Walnut Hill Lane location in Dallas, Texas, and is fellowship-trained in adult reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Champine attended Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, before going on to earn his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He continued his education at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where he completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in orthopaedic surgery. Finally, he completed his fellowship in adult reconstruction at the University of Colorado Health Science Center in Denver, where he subsequently served as an instructor in orthopaedic surgery. Dr. Champine is currently an associate clinical professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and an assistant clinical professor at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth.
Dr. Champine has always thrived at the top of his field. He graduated valedictorian from both high school and medical school and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, the Phi Beta Kappa Phi Honor Society, and the Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society. He’s been on D Magazine’s list of Best Doctors in Dallas since 2001 and Texas Monthly’s Super Doctors since 2005. He was also a particularly skilled athlete growing up, playing on the basketball team and the baseball team in high school, and placing runner-up as the South Texas athlete of the year. This experience lends him unmatched empathy when working with athletes.
Dr. Champine is highly skilled in the most advanced orthopaedic procedures available today, such as minimally invasive hip replacement, minimally invasive knee replacement, two-incision hip replacement, quad-sparing knee replacement, partial knee replacement, and computer-assisted surgery. He also has substantial experience with the most current implant technologies, such as metal-on-metal hip replacement, hip resurfacing, ceramic hip replacement, and rotating-platform knee replacements.
Dr. Champine is married to a radiologist, with whom he has two children. He enjoys watching, coaching, and playing all sports as well as enjoying life on Cedar Creek Lake.
Charles E. Cook, M.D. is an Orthopedic Surgeon with a sub-specialty in disorders of the foot and ankle. He is the Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He also serves as the head of John Peter Smith’s Foot and Ankle service. In addition, he assists with training the residents at his private practice in Dallas, as well as the JPS Problem Foot and Ankle Clinic. Dr. Cook received his medical degree from Louisiana State University, New Orleans in 1983. He completed his internship in General Surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital, and his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Cook has worked with several of the professional sports teams in the Dallas area including the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, and the Dallas Burn.
Dr. Cook completed his Foot and Ankle Fellowship under the training of Dr. Donald Mauldin. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has been in practice with Orthopedic Specialists since July 1990.

John S. Early, M.D. is a board certified Orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the care of foot and ankle abnormalities. Dr. Early is the current Board Chairman of Texas Institute for Surgery. His interests range from the management of toe deformities to restoring weight bearing function with complex reconstructions. His specialty is managing severe fractures of the foot and ankle and correcting neuromuscular imbalance caused by disease or injury. He is well versed in the use of internal fixation as well as complex external frames for limb reconstruction. Dr. Early is internationally known and nationally sought after for his expertise in complex foot and ankle reconstruction. He has published numerous articles and book chapters on issues relating to foot and ankle care. He is co-director of a well regarded foot and ankle fellowship which continues to train orthopaedic physicians in the subspecialty care of foot and ankle disease.
Prior to his association with Texas Orthopaedic Associates, he spent 10 years on the full-time Orthopaedic faculty at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas as head of the Foot and Ankle division. Presently, Dr. Early holds the title of Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Southwestern Medical Center.
With over 20 years of experience in private practice, Dr. John Gill is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine. He treats injuries of the extremities, including shoulder, upper extremity, foot and ankle, but has particular expertise in arthroscopic surgery and the treatment of injuries and disorders of the knee. One of his more common procedures is the arthroscopic reconstruction of the torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) of the knee. In addition to sports related knee injuries, Dr. Gill works with patients of all ages who have various disorders of the knee such as meniscal tears or chondromalacia, often the result of degenerative arthritis or wear and tear of the knee.
Dr. Gill’s practice is based on the fundamental principle of personal attention. His patients enjoy a stress free environment without the hurried pace that patients can sometimes experience when visiting the doctor. His staff takes careful attention not to overschedule so that he can work with patients on a personal level, giving them the time and attention they deserve. He has very little turnover in his staff, so when patients come back, they see the same familiar faces and most know all of the staff by first name after only a few visits. He does not use physician assistants or nurse practitioners, but instead sees every patient and does every procedure himself, including casting and dressing changes. When you call the office during normal hours, a friendly human voice answers the phone. Having an orthopaedic injury can be quite frightening, especially if you are an athelete. Dr. Gill makes it a priority to create an environment for his patients that can help ease the pain and stress of having such an injury.
Donald W. Hohman Jr. M.D. is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon in private practice specializing in total joint replacement and adult reconstructive procedures of the hip and knee. Dr. Hohman completed his orthopaedic surgical training at the State University of New York at Buffalo and served as the administrative chief resident in his final year of residency training. He completed his fellowship training in Adult Reconstruction and Total Joint Arthroplasty at the Brigham and Women’s hospital of the Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA where he worked as an associate orthopaedic surgeon 2013-2014 before relocating to Dallas.
Dr. Hohman’s clinical interests include optimizing primary total joint replacement procedures and outcomes for his patients. Dr. Hohman has particular interest in the management of pain and the rapid return of function around the time of surgery for his hip/ knee replacement surgeries with the use of specialized techniques, including minimally invasive/ muscle sparing direct anterior total hip arthroplasty (total hip replacement) and partial knee replacements. Dr. Hohman also specializes in the surgical management of complex primary and revision total hip and knee arthroplasty/ adult reconstructive procedures. Dr. Hohman is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) as well as a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS).
Kevin Kruse, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at the Texas Orthopaedic Associates. He sees patients in Plano and at the Greenville Avenue location in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Kruse has extensive fellowship training in treating the shoulder, and elbow. He received his undergraduate and medical degrees at Indiana University in Bloomington, where he played linebacker for the Hoosiers and made the Academic All Big Ten team. Currently Dr. Kruse specializes in shoulder surgery and performs over 700 shoulder surgeries every year. He has performed over 4,000 surgeries in his career.
After graduation, Dr. Kruse completed his residency at the Greenville Health System University Medical Center in Greenville, South Carolina, and trained in Greenville’s Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas. To further his training, Dr. Kruse completed a fellowship in the upper extremity at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center before traveling to Lyon, France, to complete a fellowship in shoulder surgery at the Centre Orthopedique Santy, with the world-renowned shoulder surgeon, Gilles Walch.
Dr. Kruse has published multiple peer-reviewed articles on the field of shoulder and presents regularly at medical seminars throughout the country. He is currently a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons as well as the Arthroscopy Association of North America. Dr. Kruse is uniquely qualified as a surgeon and is constantly kept informed of the cutting edge of orthopaedic techniques and technology in the field of shoulder surgery.
As a former football player who underwent surgery on his own shoulder and elbow Dr. Kruse is intimately familiar with the experience of receiving orthopaedic care. Christopher Miskovsky, MD, is an orthopedic hand surgeon specializing in hand, wrist, and elbow problems at Texas Orthopaedic Associates. He sees patients at the offices in Plano and on Walnut Hill Lane in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Miskovsky has a focus on endoscopic carpal tunnel release surgery and treating distal radial fractures.
After growing up in St. Louis, Dr. Miskovsky attended Georgetown University Medical School in Washington DC, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical national honors society. He completed his residency at The Hospital for Special Surgery, Cornell University in New York City, consistently ranked as one of the best orthopedic programs in the country. Dr. Miskovsky completed his hand fellowship at the Philadelphia Hand Center, Thomas Jefferson University where he was able to train with leaders in his field.

John M. Noack, M.D. is an orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery. His expertise includes the treatment of traumatic and sports-related injuries as well as degenerative conditions of the leg, ankle, and foot. While he places an emphasis on the conservative treatment of his patients, he is highly skilled in adult reconstructive and arthroscopic surgery of the foot and ankle.
A Dallas native, Dr. Noack attended St. Mark’s School of Texas before graduating Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Texas at Austin. After earning his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Noack was then awarded a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at The Foundation for Orthopedic, Athletic, and Reconstructive Research in Houston’s Texas Medical Center. There he trained under six different fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeons and served as a team physician for Rice University’s athletic department. M. Brett Raynor, MD, is an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon specializing in the knee, hip, and shoulder at the Texas Orthopaedic Associates location on Greenville Avenue in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Raynor’s commitment to his patients, exceptional level of care, and innovative techniques have made him respected throughout the field and highly sought after as both a practitioner and an instructor.
Dr. Raynor earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, before studying medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, where he was elected to the medical national honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Raynor has published several papers in leading sports medicine journals and has presented his research nationally. He also instructs surgical courses and is a reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine, and continues to be involved in teaching other surgeons and practitioners. He is the co-chairman of the DFW Sports Medicine Symposium in Dallas, TX, and is a regular lecturer at the Vail International Complex Knee Symposium in Vail, CO, where surgeons from around the world come together to discuss and learn about complex knee injuries.
Dr. Raynor is currently seeing new patients at the Greenville Avenue location in Dallas, where his favorite part of his job is helping his patients regain mobility and function after an injury so they can get back to the activities they love.
Christopher Sakowski, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon at the Texas Orthopaedic Associates locations in Plano and on Greenville Avenue in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Sakowski’s advanced training in the most state-of-the-art techniques, especially in sports medicine and hindfoot reconstruction, makes him an invaluable addition to the practice. He specializes in total ankle replacement, foot and ankle arthroscopy, minimally invasive bunion correction, and the Cartiva procedure, a new method for correcting arthritis in the big toe.
Dr. Sakowski grew up in nearby Arlington, Texas, where he attended Cistercian Preparatory school. He received his undergraduate diploma from the University of Texas at Austin, before studying medicine at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, graduating magna cum laude. While in medical school, Dr. Sakowski was able to perform research at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, studying the effects of space travel on astronauts’ bodies.
After college, Dr. Sakowski completed his residency training at the University of Southern California/Los Angeles County Hospital, one of the country’s busiest Level I trauma centers. He then completed his education with a fellowship at Baltimore’s prestigious Institute of Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at Mercy Hospital.
Dr. Sakowski lives in Dallas with his wife and two children. He is happy to provide quality care to the people of the Dallas metroplex. He is currently seeing new patients out of the Greenville Avenue and Walnut Hill Lane offices in Dallas, as well as at the Plano, Texas, location.
Robert R. Scheinberg, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, a leader and authority in the field of sports medicine, and a specialist in arthroscopic reconstructive surgery of the knee, shoulder, elbow, and hip. He’s on the team of renowned orthopedic surgeons at Texas Orthopaedic Associates and sees patients at the practice’s Walnut Hill Lane location in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Scheinberg completed his undergraduate education at Tulane University in New Orleans and Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. Dr. Scheinberg is experienced in treating a wide range of athletes, from the recreational to the professional. He’s currently the team physician for multiple local high schools in the Dallas area as well as for the United States Ski Team and was previously the orthopaedic surgeon for the 1994 World Cup USA at the Cotton Bowl. He is also currently an honorary member of the Southwest Athletic Trainers Association and a past president of the Texas Society for Sports Medicine.
In addition to his hands-on work with athletes, Dr. Scheinberg is also passionate about teaching. He’s a clinical assistant professor at UT Southwestern’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, has authored numerous papers and book chapters, and has presented and lectured at many national and international conferences.
In his spare time, Dr. Scheinberg enjoys golfing, skiing, running, and spending time with his family: his wife, Deon, a physical therapist and former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader; his twins, Blake and Layne; and his two English bulldogs.
Steven J. Thornton, MD is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at Texas Orthopaedic Associates with advanced subspecialty training and certification in sports medicine surgery. Dr. Thornton is a leader in minimally invasive surgery, specializing in shoulder, knee, hip and elbow surgical procedures, cartilage restoration, and regenerative medicine in Dallas, TX at the Greenville Ave. location.
Dr. Thornton earned his Medical Degree from the University of Mississippi, where he was elected to join the Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Medical Society and was awarded the Donald Imrie Award for Most Outstanding Performance in Orthopaedic Surgery. He subsequently completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, and also completed a traveling fellowship in orthopaedic surgery at Norwich’s Royal College of Surgeons in the United Kingdom. Dr. Thornton is widely recognized as one of the leading sports specialists in the region. He performs many revision surgeries and specializes in highly technical cartilage restoration procedures. He is one of the top performing surgeons in the DFW metroplex for superior capsular reconstruction, ACL repair, revision ACL reconstruction, revision rotator cuff repair, meniscal root repair, cartilage restoration procedures, surgical treatment of tennis and golfer’s elbow, and hip arthroscopic labral repair.
Dr. Thornton is currently a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the Texas Orthopaedic Association. He has a long history of working with athletes at the highest levels, having served as head team physician for the Texas Wild Professional Tennis Team and as the orthopaedic surgeon for the NCAA Final Four Men’s Championship, the Hamlet Professional Tennis Tournament, Visa America’s Gymnastic Cup, and the United States National Figure Skating Championships.
In addition to his work with patients, Dr. Thornton contributes to advancing the field of orthopedic and sports medicine surgery. He is a reviewer for the Journal of Arthroscopy and has presented academic sports papers worldwide. In addition, he has authored numerous peer reviewed scientific articles and book chapters on a wide range of sports medicine topics, such as rotator cuff repair, ACL reconstruction, and elbow ligament reconstruction in athletes. Michael Wheeler, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon serving patients in the Dallas metroplex area at Texas Orthopaedic Associates and sees patients at their offices in Dallas and Plano, Texas.
Dr. Wheeler graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin, where he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. While in college, he was part of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He then completed his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Following graduation, he completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, where he became a well-rounded, well-trained orthopaedic surgeon but ultimately found his passion in the spine.
Dr. Wheeler furthered his training by completing a spine fellowship at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland and had the opportunity to train with one of the most experienced and well-known spine surgeons in the country.
Dr. Wheeler has given several presentations and has been published numerous times for research in his field. He is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, North American Spine Society, Texas Medical Association, and American Medical Association.
When he’s not treating patients, Dr. Wheeler enjoys eating spicy food, staying active, and spending time with his wife, Sarah, and their two sons.
Jacob C. Becker, MD, is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon, specializing in hip and knee reconstruction at Texas Orthopaedic Associates. He sees patients at the Plano, Greenville Avenue, and Walnut Hill Lane locations in the Dallas metroplex area.
Dr. Becker graduated with honors from Mississippi College, where he received a scholarship to play Division II football and earned a degree in Biomedical Sciences. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. After medical school, Dr. Becker completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at NYU Langone – Long Island in New York, and subsequently completed his fellowship training in adult reconstruction at the Carrell Clinic in Dallas, Texas.

Luis Felipe Colón, MD is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon at Texas Orthopaedic Associates, where he is dedicated to providing personalized, cutting-edge care for patients in the Dallas and Plano areas.
Dr. Colón completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, where he received comprehensive training in spine surgery alongside both orthopaedic spine surgeons and neurosurgeons. Under the mentorship of spine surgery leaders, including Dr. Sheeraz Qureshi (minimally invasive spine surgery), Dr. Han Jo Kim (complex spine and scoliosis surgery), and Dr. Todd Albert (cervical spine surgery), he honed his skills in state-of-the-art techniques.
